Ali Santana is an abstract storyteller, using the tension of live performance to deliver a uniquely textured mix of prepared footage and improvisational editing. His onstage multimedia world combines a montage of found sounds and original beats, collaged with video loops, field recordings and sound samples from original films and personal archives. The thrill of Santana’s stage work is that unlike a linear film, DJ set, or beat show, we are seeing its creation in real time, as elements and effects are remixed, layered and played back in and out of sequence live as we watch.
